Management
Lynn Hennigar, President
Lynn started her newspaper career as a young teenager, collating newspapers in the bindery department of her parents, community newspaper business, Lighthouse Publishing. Since that time, she has worked in many departments, becoming president and general manager in 1995. She is a past president of (CCNA) the Canadian Community Newspapers Association. Lynn believes that good community newspapers must serve their readers, and reflect the best of their communities.
Vernon Oickle, Editor
Vernon has been a newspaper man for almost a quarter century. He has won personal awards for his writing and photography. Since taking over as editor at Lighthouse in 1994 the paper has undergone many changes -in the words of our fearless leader, “If you aren’t the lead dog the view is always the same.”
Laurenda Reeves, Circulation Manager/Jack of All Trades
Laurenda keeps us up and running. Not only does she make sure papers get out on time, she looks after the new and ever changing technology. It’s not unusual to see Laurenda running new wires or overseeing the installation of security systems.
Ron Demone, Production Manager
Ron started as a Web Press operator in 1985 and has worked his way up to Production manager. His soft spoken and easy going style make him a joy to work with. Making sure everything is on schedule has caused a few gray hairs but hey...they look good!
Michelle Nickerson Michelle Nickerson, Office Manager, Accounts Payable/Receiveable
In June of 1988 Michelle successfully completed a secretarial course at Nova Scotia Community College and went on to complete her on-the-job training at Lighthouse Publishing, where she has been ever since. Starting as an office administrator, she has worked in many different departments, finally settling into the role as office Manager. Michelle also handles the accounts payables/receivables and organizing staff functions. Michelle recently added human resources to her list of duties. Excellent customer service is Michelle’s top priority.

Tina Hennigar, Sales
Tina has been serving customers at Lighthouse Publishing for 5 years and thrives on helping small business with small budgets make a big impact to generating big sales. Being dedicated to her family and community make it easy for Tina to promote community events and projects.
Steve Tanner Steve Tanner, Sales
Steve has an extensive background in media and sales. He prides himself on excellent customer relations with service and satisfaction second to none.
Penny McDonald Penny McDonald, Sales
Penny is a long-time resident of Bridgewater and comes to us with years of advertising sales experience. Penny will be selling advertising with a focus on serving Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. Contact Penny at our Bridgewater office.
Liana Bishop Liana Bishop, Sales
Liana has been part of the Lighthouse Publishing team since 1998 as a press operator and has been involved in the print industry since 1985. She looks forward to serving you for all your printing needs.
Angie Pearson Angie Pearson, Sales
A self confessed people-person, Angie thrive's on her own enthusiam and believe's being "kinder then necessary" is a very good thing. She thoroughly enjoys her career and would love to join your marketing team and help grow your business.

Lisa Brown Lisa Brown, Assistant Editor
With 20 years in our newsroom, Lisa knows her way around a news story and around Lunenburg County. Born and raised here, after graduating from university she returned home for a little rest and relaxation, ended up taking a job with Lighthouse Media Group and has been here ever since.

She’s married with two adult stepchildren and a very special Cairn terrier who is featured in a weekly blog RoadDog on southshorenow.ca.

Over the years, Lisa has received numerous national and regional awards for news and feature writing and photography. In 2009, she won top news story in our newspapers’ circulation category from both the Canadian Community Newspapers Association and the Atlantic Community Newspapers Association.
Stacey Colwell, Reporter
Upon graduating from Charlottetown's Holland College's journalism  program in 2002 — where he earned an Atlantic Journalism Award and the Martin Dorrell Memorial Award — Stacey moved back to his hometown of Bridgewater to work as a reporter for Lighthouse Publishing.

He and his future wife, Melanie, who had graduated at the same time from the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI, both wanted to begin their chosen careers close to their families in Nova Scotia after bouncing around the Maritimes for school and work commitments for more than a decade.

Their daughter, Ella, was born in 2004, followed by Luke in 2006, and Stacey proudly spent about about six months of paternity time at home with each of them.

Stacey has covered mostly education and sports-related issues since arriving at Lighthouse Publishing, after previous work experience at the Charlottetown Guardian and Halifax Daily News, and has won a handful of Atlantic Canadian newspaper awards for his feature, news and column writing, and his photography.
Keith Corcoran, Reporter
A native of Kentville, NS, Keith has been a newspaper reporter since April 1999. He graduated with a journalism diploma from the Atlantic Media Institute where he won the Print Media Student of the Year award. Keith covers the federal/provincial political scene for the newspaper.
Robert Hirtle, Reporter/Office Manager
A lifelong resident of Lunenburg County, Robert has been an active member in our community and enjoys his duties in Lunenburg.
Paula Levy, Reporter
Paula is a native of Newfoundland and graduated from the College of the North Atlantic. She started her career in broadcasting then moved on to community newspaper reporting. Paula has worked for the Digby Courier, The Southern Gazette and The Liverpool Advance. She has won several awards regionally and nationally for writing and photography.
Patrick Hirtle Patrick Hirtle
Patrick is our special features writer — from seniors supplements, to car care, to improving your home, he helps provide the editorial copy that makes our newspaper and on-line content extra special. Aside from special sections, he also contributes to the weekly paper in a number of different sections and creates most of the stories that appear as advertising features. A graduate of St. Thomas University (BA) and the University of New Brunswick (MA), Patrick has an especially keen interest in all things related to Lunenburg County's history.
Adam Jacobs
Adam comes to the South Shore all the way from Clarenville, Newfoundland. Prior to joining Lighthouse Publishing, Adam worked for three years at the Miramichi Leader/Weekend in New Brunswick. He has also completed work terms for the Charlottetown Guardian and the Progress Enterprise.

A recipient of the Hartwell Daily Award as a graduate of Holland College, Adam is married to Leanne Jacobs (nee Veinot) and is the father of a daughter, Jane. Adam has also done work for Hockey Canada covering the Women's World Ice Hockey Championships in Halifax in 2004.

Adam will be covering the Chester, New Ross, Hubbards area for the paper.

New Media
Tim Reeves-Horton, Education Co-ordinator/Multimedia Producer
With 16 years teaching experience across Canada, including provincial and national recognition, and 10 years multimedia experience in Toronto, including credits with CBC, National Geographic Channel, Parks Canada and more, Tim has returned home to the South Shore to one job that brings it all together. As Education Coordinator, Tim ensures Lighthouse Publishing remains fully invested in promoting media literacy in South Shore youth; and as a multimedia producer, Tim works in print, video and online formats to share the stories of the South Shore. thorton@southshorenow.ca

Kim Walters Kim Walters
Kim Walters has 18yrs experience in the Newspaper Industry. She graduated from Kingstec Community College with honours in the Offset Printing course in '91. She worked at Kentville Publishing Ltd. for seven years prior to obtaining her position here at Lighthouse Publishing Ltd. in September of 1998. Kim has won a few awards throughout the years for ad design, and enjoys designing and laying out books as well as designing ads for the newspapers. Kim resides in West Northfield with her wonderful husband Mike, and her two beautiful daughters, Michelle & Madison
