BRIDGEWATER - Ida Scott is in charge of finding other sources of cash to help fund the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

 Ms Scott, arguably known best as the manager of Bridgewater Development Association, the town's economic development promoter, was named the lifestyle centre society's funding co-ordinator in an announcement on the society's web site.

 She is tasked with searching for funds "needed to ensure the [recreation centre] project can proceed to construction," the web site states.

 Project proponents believe the wait is now for Ottawa to come through with cash as the province, Bridgewater and the Municipality of Lunenburg have already made financial commitments to the $31.5 million project. The most recent announcement came in May when Premier Rodney MacDonald promised his government would spend $10 million.

 Ms Scott has worked on funding projects with the 2003 World Theatre Congress and Festival and the 2002 youth sailing world championship in Lunenburg. She also runs her own business in Lunenburg.

 The county's recreation centre will contain two ice pads - one with seating for 1,500 people, the other to accommodate 300 - a six-lane, 25-metre pool, a $4.4 million library and a host of multi-purpose, active-living spaces.

 A business plan commissioned for the society has 2009/10 pinpointed as a construction time with 2010 being the year it opens on York Street.

 Bridgewater Deputy Mayor David Walker, Municipality of Lunenburg Deputy Warden Elmer Garber, Greg Amos of Petite Riviere, Jeff Sabean of Streatch Drive in Bridgewater, Andrew Kimball of Petite Riviere and Paul Belliveau of LaHave Street in Bridgewater are on the society's board of directors.
