Six of seven members re-offering in Chesterby Adam Jacobs CHESTER - All but one of the incumbent municipal councillors here are intending to re-offer this fall.
Of the seven council seats, including the warden, only Chester/East Chester District 3 councillor Gail Smith is stepping down. Warden Allen Webber, councillor for Chester Basin District 4, announced his intentions in late winter. Mr. Webber has served on council since 1982. Deputy Warden Floyd Shatford, councillor for Mill Cove/Hubbards District 2, has been on council since 1997. Robert Myra, District 5 councillor for Martins Point to Beech Hill, has also been a councillor since 1997. District 6 councillor Cheryl Scott, representing the New Ross area, is in her second term as councillor, having occupied the seat from 1996 to 1999 and from 2004 to the present. Sharon Church-Cornelius, District 7 (Chester West) councillor, has been with council since 1999. With about two months until election time, only two others have announced their intention to run for council. Both Phil Ellwood and Brad Armstrong are seeking election in District 3, the seat to be left vacant by Ms Smith.
