BRIDGEWATER - Police in Bridgewater have upgraded the charges against a 20-year-old woman in connection with a New Year's Eve stabbing in the town.

 Following the initial investigation, officials said they had charged Katelin Leigh Whitney Joudrey with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

 But on January 5, police announced that the initial aggravated assault charge alleged that Ms Joudrey wounded 24-year-old Kiel Oliver Naugler.

 They've laid a third charge, also aggravated assault, alleging that she endangered his life.

 Deputy Chief John Collyer said officers opted to do that due to the extent of Mr. Naugler's injuries.

 Ms Joudrey allegedly stabbed Mr. Naugler "multiple times" with a knife during a domestic dispute at a Ron Street address early January 1.

 He sustained injuries to his head, neck and shoulders and was initially listed in critical condition at the QEII in Halifax. That was upgraded as he continued his recovery last week.

 Ms Joudrey remains free on conditions and is slated to be arraigned on the charges January 12.
