by Adam Jacobs
CHESTER - Antiques, trinkets and hidden treasures.
The Chester and Area Municipal Heritage Society's annual auction is just around the corner.
The auction is scheduled for July 12 beginning 9:30 a.m. at the Chester Train Station.
There will also be a special live pre-auction viewing the day before from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. An on-line viewing of some of the items can be seen at http://www.chesterbound.com/auction.htm.
The majority of the items for this auction are donated contents from a Chester estate.
"We hope to have a wide variety of other items from small to large, antique to modern, and including gift certificates," said society chairwoman Carol Nauss. "There's also going to be a flea market component."
The auction is the society's second-largest fundraiser behind the Chester House and Harbour Tour generally held in late August.
The proceeds go toward mortgage payments, maintenance and operations of the society-owned properties.
Donated items for the auction will be accepted and are appreciated.
Arrangements can be made for drop-off or pickup on July 2 and 3 at the station from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
At this time, people will be available to ensure that your items are under cover and secure.
Dropping off items at other times is discouraged to prevent the loss of items.
Should these times be inconvenient, please call Ms Nauss at 275-3826 to make other arrangements.
Items can also be mailed to P.O. Box 628, Chester, NS B0J 1J0.
