Weekend to End Breast Cancer golf tournament at Olde Town Golf Courseby Adam Jacobs BRIDGEWATER — The push is on. Roughly halfway to their $6,000 fundraising goal for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, Michelle Hayward, Marsha Fancy, Karen Weagle and new team member, Janice Dibbin, are focusing on their upcoming golf tournament to reach their goal. The foursome, who’ve dubbed themselves Four Abreast, have spearheaded a Texas Scramble golf tournament at the Olde Town Golf Course on July 10. “We understand that the community is inundated with golf tournaments and fundraisers this year and that some have had to be cancelled due to lack of interest,” Ms Hayward said. “We do not want this to be the case with our event.” Registration is $400 minimum for a maximum of five members per team. At least nine teams are needed for the tournament to go forth. “Any surplus for registration will go as an added donation for the weekend,” Ms Hayward said. Frank Seymour and Valerie Morris are the Olde Town operators. They have made registration forms available at the course. “If you have five members, it works out to be $80 per person,” Mr. Seymour said. “If that’s a little steep for you we also have sponsor sheets here.” There will also be a silent auction, which is open to the members of the public and not just golfers. Quality items are still being accepted for the auction. Prizes will also be offered to the highest fundraisers and for specific golf achievements. “It’s all for the cause,” Ms Hayward said.
