Young ReadersPorky ninja pig We have all heard the story of the three little pigs and how the wolf blew two of their homes down. They went to live with their brother, who had a brick house. There, the wolf met his fate, when he fell down the chimney. Jake Werewolf, cousin of the fated wolf, never enjoyed the story and sought to one day find revenge against the third little pig.
Porky Pig lived alone in his little brick house, as his two brothers had gone to get jobs at Maple Leaf Ltd. in the city. He had not heard from them for a long while and decided that they must be having such a grand time, they didn't have time to write. On the day of our story, the thunder roared and the lightning flashed. Porky Pig heard a knock at his door and seeing the condition of the day, quickly pulled open the door to see before him a soaking, chilled Jake Werewolf. Without reservation, he asked the werewolf into his home to share his evening meal. "Please eat up," urged the pig, "there is lots there in the pot. Turnip stew is one of my favourite things. What about you?" "Oh, I like turnip, too," said the werewolf, when all he could see when he looked at Porky Pig was pork chops smothered in mushroom sauce. The werewolf sipped his stew and looked around the room. So this was where his cousin had met his fate, right there in that very fireplace. A lump came to his throat, but he smiled at the pig who offered another helping. "Oh, no I couldn't," said the werewolf, eating the last piece of turnip. "Come sit by the fire and warm yourself," invited the pig, indicating the rocking chair. Right there in that fireplace his cousin had tumbled into a pot of hot water after he had pursued the three brothers for days. He had even blown two of their homes down when he huffed and puffed. This pig had been his cousin's undoing and this pig had to pay. Porky Pig cleaned the few dishes and stacked them in the cupboard. It was nice to have someone to talk to on a wet night, but when he turned he saw drool coming from Jake Werewolf's mouth. The wolf's eyes now stared and sparkled with fire. Jumping from the chair, Jake Werewolf chased Porky Pig around the room. "Stand back!" yelled the pig. "These hands and feet are lethal weapons. I have a black belt in karate." As Jake Werewolf charged forward, the pig landed a drop kick to the jaw of the werewolf, who fell to the floor seeing little dancing pigs before his eyes. "I'll now ask you to leave my home," said the pig taking his low, crouching position. Quickly the werewolf, who was no match for the karate pig, disappeared into the night.
