Nova Scotia's Liberal leader recently spoke to local business leaders about his party's take on district health authorities and the hydroelectric Maritime Link project, a proposal that includes an underwater transmission cable between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Jessica Carver, originally of New Germany, was named honorary chairwoman of this year’s fundraising walk in Dartmouth in support of cystic fibrosis (CF) research. Ms Carver has CF, a fatal genetic disease that impacts the digestive system and the lungs. She had a lung transplant in December.

YMCA gets $12,000 grant

The province announced Wednesday that it's giving a $12,000 grant to the Lunenburg County YMCA to help the agency continue with programming at the youth drop-in centre in Bridgewater. The centre plans to use the money toward new Tuesday night activities. (Story by Keith Corcoran)

South Shore Health wants to welcome Dalhousie University medical students to this region where they could get a big portion of their residency training under their belts. It will likely be July before the district knows if their attempt to be a family practice residency training site is successful or not.
