Several organizations from South Shore Nova Scotia are collaborating on a comprehensive media literacy experience for local students in conjunction with Media Literacy Week and Remembrance Day. The Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 24 Bridgewater, the Desbrisay Museum, Empire Theatres Studio 7 Bridgewater, Lighthouse Media Group and the South Shore Regional School Board are working together to offer students a multimedia program called Time To Remember - Time To Envision.
The event will run throughout Media Literacy Week, which is the week before Remembrance Day. The program will feature locally produced video vignettes of WWII veterans shown at Empire Theatres Studio 7, followed by a Q&A session with vets from the community about the impact of war on our lives. Students will return to the classroom to reflect on the experience and then share their interpretations on this community website built to further the dialogue within the community. All of the videos and related content are available in a collection on this southshorenow.ca website and the DesBrisay Museum will include the videos in their military history section.
